How come we didn’t visit Ljubljana before?

Hello world!
We took a car from Split, passed Zagreb in Croatia and now we are in Slovenia!
Video is already on our YouTube channel: Ljubljana video

ACCOMMODATION in Ljubljana

Since we drove approx. 460 kilometers (280 miles) and explored all day, we needed sleep. We booked hotel in Ljubljana city center. For double room, with NO breakfast, we paid 55 EUR. There are numerous hotels & hostels in Ljubljana for good money value, only problem we had was find hotel with their own parking. Most hotels, that were available, had public garage close by, so did ours. Parking Kozolec ended up being warm, clean & safe public underground garage. Price per day is 12 EUR.
No breakfast in hotel – no problem. In bakery on Prešeren square you get sandwich & juice for 1,85 EUR. Now we were ready for adventure!

ATTRACTIONS in Ljubljana

First stop Ljubljana castle. We usually walk everywhere, but we’ve chosen to take funicular this time. Entrance to Ljubljana funicular is at Krekov square. One way price per person is 2.5 EUR. Entrance fee for castle is 7,50 EUR. In that price you basically pay entrance to castle tower & medieval projection. If you are on budget, walking around castle is free and enough.
We went back down to the city trough the forest path – would definitely recommend it! It is such a nice stroll down. We took a path to Gornji trg (Upper Square). At the end of the forest you will find cute old houses and narrow streets, which will take you strait to the city.
We took a stroll in old town, along the Ljubljanica river. Must see are Ljubljana bridges: Čevljarski, Mesarski, Zmajski (Dragon) and Tromstovje (Triple bridge). Ljubljana city center is small, so you have time to soak it all in, really good. This entire area is buzzing with shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. Still, we decided to try Open Market food, near St.Nicholas cathedral. We ordered Pljeskavica with Kajmak & Kranjska sausage with cabbage, what goes nice with local beer (total approx. 15 EUR).
We spent little time in Tivoli City Park. If you are nature lover, like Maya is, it is not enough. Park begins in city center, but don’t be fooled it is Ljubljana’s largest park, you can have a nice full day hike in Tivoli woods.
Little bit outside city center (approx. 10-15 min walk) you can find artistic block of buildings, called Metelkova. Streets are empty in the daylight, but during night it is apparently social center with many bars and art galleries. We loved vivid, colored, graffiti walls; rusty sculptures and concrete park. It is perfect Instagram place!
We finished our trip with quick sip of coffee at Neboticnik, bar on 12th floor. Prices are fair and you will most definitely enjoy the view!
Our next stop is Bohinj, Slovenija!
