Split, Private boat tour

There are wood ships, sail ships, good ships, but the best ships are friendships. Shutout to my working mom friends, who work their ass off all year long and deserve this kind of trip at least once during summer time!

We hopped on Biseran boat and ask them to take us on sunset tour near Split, because that was the only way three working moms could organize this day trip. Boris from Biseran was task oriented and made for us tailored tour to Čiovo. We took some Gin, fruit, lost’s of positive energy and had the best time we had in a long time! I am sure all mom & dad’s can relate.

This is not paid promotion, but we did go on this trip for free. Nevertheless, our experiences are genuine and we really had the most perfect, memorable time. It was just 3 hours, 15 minute ride from Split, but it felt like we are miles away, relaxed and unbothered. Boris was amazing and catered our every need. This is definitely kind of trip you should gift to yourself.
Let us know if you enjoy it as much as we did!

Ovo me jako ljuti i rastužuje.

Rekla sam vam kako smo tražili životinje i pronašli smo ih!

Upute pronađite -> OVDJE.

Povedite i pse, nema zabrane.

Diano i Pave SMaSHirali!

Drugi dan uživali smo u prezentaciji hrane i pića Zagrebačke Craft pivovare Pivnica i pivovara Mlinarica.

Does it have to be perfect to explore Sinj county?

Hello World?

Where are you now? I am in office, writing another blog to you. This is a story about how we were waiting for a perfect day to drive outside city. Unfortunately, that day never came. Our story begins how we went anyway :).

We drove from Split to Sinj, with our car, small car, tiny Smart Car. It serves us so well. Maybe we should name it? Any suggestions?

Sinj

Anyways, it was raining, so we decided to skip too much walking around town and went strait to “Old Town”, old fortress above Sinj city. The people of Sinj simply call the Town.

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0011.JPG

We walked trough most beautiful forest up. On the way up, famous Croatian Sculptors made Stations of the Cross, a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ‘s last day on Earth as a man. Sculptures are pretty good actually. We were discussing difference in sculpting man and female body, these sculptors definitely paid attention to woman’s body on “Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem”, 8th station. Go check it out 🙂

In the center of the fortress is Sanctuary of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj. One of the largest celebration of Feast of Assumption of the blessed virgin Mary is in Sinj, on 15 August. Pilgrims from all over the world come to Sinj with only one aim – to kneel with hands clasped in front of the Miraculous Madonna of Sinj.

It also offers amazing town view!

Kosinac spring

Rain started, croup actually, so we took our drone down and got back on the road. We were looking for Kosinac spring. It took us a wile to find it in a rain. If you decide to go there, let us help you with some instructions: HERE.

Now, let us show you why you should go there!

Sinj_Croatia_DianoMaya-1166854
Sinj_Croatia_DianoMaya-1166861
Sinj_Croatia_DianoMaya-1166867

Legend says, whoever drinks from Kosinac spring, his soul will be filled with new energy. You can believe in legends, or not, but we came with positive attitude and we are leaving with one!

Rain just didn’t want to stop falling. Well, what can you do? Does it really have to be perfect? There is so much beauty around us, so if you really want to travel every day explore your surroundings even on a rainy day. I don’t just mean literal rain, the water drops from the sky. I also mean, when you have rain on your mind & soul. Go outside! Travel every day in the “micro world”, it is beautiful and it is waiting for you!

That said, thank you for being so wonderful and reading my story till the end. Tell me, have you ever written similar story?

Trogir, wonderful little “Medieval charmer”

Hello world!

We are in Trogir, just few kilometers from Split, our hometown. We have several friends who live there (remember Maja & Milan from Drvenik Mali story?), but still we don’t visit it enough and we need to change that, because it is gorgeous seaside city!

Let me tell you why we think you should put Trogir on your “bucket list”.

TrogirCroatia_DianoMaya-1166347

Trogir is UNESCO heritage city which, I heard, people call “little Venice”, “Museum-city” and many other names. I call it “Medieval charmer” :).
It is 30 minute car drive from Split city (please note, in summer there are huge traffic jams towards Trogir, so sometimes it takes 1 hour or more to reach city). Town is located on island, but bridges connect it to mainland.

It is small city, so it can be included even in the fastest schedule. You can literally walk it in 30 minutes, but don’t. If you are planing to stay in town over night, you can easily find affordable accommodation.

START at The Land Gate (Kopnena Vrata) and get lost in “street maze“! While walking trough alleys you will bump into most unexpected beauty of stone arches & walls, colorful doors and charming Mediterranean courtyards.

TrogirCroatia_DianoMaya-1166278
TrogirCroatia_DianoMaya-1166301

Find your way to Trogir Cathedral (Katedrala Sv. Lovre). Apparently, the best views of the city are from tower of St. Lawrence Cathedral. We didn’t get a to chance to see it, but if you did, let us know (in comments below) if that is true!
Instead, we hung out with our friend Marina on Main Square. It was Christmas time, therefore it was accordingly decorated.

TrogirCroatia_DianoMaya-1166318
TrogirCroatia_DianoMaya-1166320

You exit city walls trough “porta civitatis” to waterfront promenade. You will find most spectacular boats and yachts docked at the promenade. In summer time, plenty family-owned restaurants and taverns open their doors for most amazing gastronomical experience. You can walk promenade in 5 minutes, from one end to other. At the end, rises beautiful Kamerlengo castle which was, unfortunately, closed.

TrogirCroatia_DianoMaya-1166563

If you have car & time, go to the Trogir Marina, from where you can get perfect city landscape photos. Aim to get there in “golden hour” 🙂

We rated Trogir as a perfect town for Instagramers. What do you think?

Autumn on Hvar island, Croatia

Hello world!

😍 Are you following us on our socials jet?

FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/dianomaya/

The content here was done only with mobile phone.

On island Hvar, we arrived in Stari Grad. It was very late, so we had dinner in the city.
Our pick was cozy little tavern called “La Gitana“, recommended by my friend Tea. The food was amazing and it’s host, Mateo, wonderful! He welcomed us to island with couple shots of rakija and good time.

We booked lovely Pension Tamaris in Sveta Nedjelja on south side of island Hvar. There isn’t much to do in Sveta Nedjelja and we wanted just that – do nothing. We ended up doing so much of “nothing”, so keep reading :).

Sveta Nedjelja

In the morning we had coffee in our Pension with a million dollar view.

Hvar island_dianomaya-9572

We went for a walk around the village. This picturesque place by the sea is famous for Zlatan otok Marina, Restaurant and under sea wine cellar.

Hvar island_dianomaya-9576

When in Sveta Nedjelja, you cannot miss the Lučišća beach. Take a swim in crystal clear turquoise blue sea.

Pitve

We had late lunch/early dinner in “Dvor Duboković Tavern” in village Pitve, typical Dalmatian village with stone houses, narrow paved streets and untouched nature.

Hvar island_dianomaya-9643

City of Hvar

After dinner, we drove to city of Hvar for a drink. There isn’t much to say about Hvar, that I haven’t already. City has so much beauty and history, on one hand, and crazy night life, on the other. It is also the most expensive city on island, so come “money prepared”.

IMG_8964

Gromin Dolac

Having a car on island Hvar is an amazing thing. You wake up in the morning and just pick one, of many beautiful beaches, for your morning swim. This time we drove (and walked) to Gromin Dolac beach. From Zavala the dirt road leads east towards the village of Gromin Dolac. We found a parking in the woods and walked to series of perfectly clean, azure blue beaches.

Hvar island_dianomaya-9657
Hvar island_dianomaya-9664

We were alone for hours, just enjoying quiet crickets song, smell of pine forests and the calm beauty of Adriatic sea. Only thing that was able to move us from that beach was HUNGER :).

Vrbovska

We hoped in car and drove to Vrbovska for lunch. Food was horrible, skip Konoba Lem, but city is lovely.

Hvar island_dianomaya-9669

Basina bay

Last night in Hvar, we bumped into my friend Žile, remember him from our Escape blog? He invited girls to see Escape, so after lunch, he & Monga picked us up with boat in Basina bay and drove us to hidden Escape location. Girls loved it!

IMG_7535
Hvar island_dianomaya-9674

When I reflect on this trip, I have a feeling like we were on Hvar for a month, but in reality it was just 2 days. Having 2 days off, sometimes, it is all the time you need to recharge.

Call your friends right now and organize trip to Hvar! Take a car and visit several places, like we did. If you have questions about how to get to certain beach, food cost or tips for car transport, hit us down with question in comments. I would love to help you!

ACTIVE VACATION TOURS IN CROATIA

Hello world!

We have been working very hard, so we paused with blogging for a while. Some of you already know that we are seasonal workers in Croatia. Imagine being in Croatia and not experience what it has to offer? No, big no! Always find time to have fun in life!

Today we are taking you trough our ACTIVE VACATION TOURS:

PRIVATE BOAT TOUR, SPLIT

Split, Private boat tour

Hopp on Biseran boat and ask them to take you on sunset tour near Split. Boris from Biseran was task oriented and made for us tailored tour to Čiovo. We took some Gin, fruit, lost’s of positive energy and had the best time we had in a long time!

Find out more HERE.

ZIP LINE, OMIŠ

Are you as much as adrenaline junkie as we are? Experience the rush while descending through the Cetina canyon with ZipLine Omiš! It has 8 steel ZipLine wires with total length of 2.100 m and the longest one is 700m (conveniently or not, that is the first one). Also worth of mentioning is the speed, they say you can go 65 km/h.

Before you go to big wires there is short wire where guides will teach you how to brake and act on cable on these small lines. So, if you haven’t done it before, don’t be afraid they will show you how to ZipLine. Keep in mind there are short walks between wires, so dress appropriately. Bring water! We were in bigger group, so we waited on each wire.

We were in Omiš several times, even took a ride with a boat on a river, but the views of Cetina canyon and river from ZipLine is something very different and breathtaking!!

KRKA WATERFALLS, ŠIBENIK

While Plitvice National Park is more popular tourist destination, there is little difference between the two. Most important difference is that in Krka National Park you can actually swim in the water! That is also the main reason why we like it more :).

Krka National Park in Croatia is located in central Dalmatia, just a few kilometers of the city of Šibenik. We got there from Split, with a car, but you can easily find daily tours.

Main attractions are the waterfalls and cascades Skradinski buk, Roški slap and island Visovac with its monastery. Keep in mid there is a lot of walking, so bring appropriate shoes, liters of water and something to eat. You can make little picnic at the meadow near Skradinski buk, just be aware of hungry swans that walk around :).

BOAT TOUR, ISLAND VIS

Island Vis is our favorite island in Croatia, so far. We did full day trip around the island, last year, and it was the best summer memory we had! Boat trip starts and ends in Komiza city. They took us to popular beach Stiniva and Green cave, less known but wonderful Smokova and Pritišćina bay, military tunnels and we passed by Vis city.

See you again soon and don’t forget to:

When to visit Split?

Hello world!

It is very hard to write about city you’ve lived in (for bigger part of your life), but that doesn’t mean we won’t try :). Let’s start with WHEN to visit Split, Croatia?

img_4685

If you are looking for cultural experience of Split city only (like museum, galleries and theater), you can visit all year round. Split is vibrant city with plenty of things going on. Still, we would avoid January (after New Year) and February, completely. In that period most old town restaurants & shops are closed.

March, April and May are reserved for lower accommodation prices and spring outdoor adventures. Go inland! There are numerous wonderful places close to Split. We just visited beautiful Imotski city and lakes, maybe you’ve seen it on our Instagram page (we will write about it in our next blog).

If you feel adventurous, join a biking or hiking tour (Biokovo and Kozjak mountains are interesting to explore).

Krka or/and Plitvice National Park can be fun day tour from Split, in that period (but also in summer season).

In April Split hosts Boat Show and Half Marathon race. On May 7th Split celebrates its patron saint, St. Domnius (Sv. Duje). Festivities include various events, exhibits, fairs, bingo on Riva, and concerts.

If your idea of vacation is swimming and visiting islands, don’t come before June. You don’t want to see islands in winter times, you really don’t! So, June marks beginning of summer season, which ends in September. July & August are high season months. June to September is time when Split and Croatia don’t sleep. It beats and breaths tourists and everything touristy. You want to swim, you can! Want to try best restaurants, they are all open! Thinking about renting a boat and explore Adriatic coast, vendors will fight for you! Ferry lines are also more frequent. Nightlife gets crazy and there are festivals everywhere (film and music). Oh, and it is hot, very hot! So, jump into that beautiful Adriatic sea and chill for a while!

We call October “Indian summer” period; or as locals call it “Granny summer” (literal translation). Sea is still warm enough to swim, but there aren’t many tourists at the beach. There is less crowd in the city and prices are lower again.

November and December are definitely off season months, but there is plenty going on in that period. Most famous event is ‘Advent in Split‘ which takes place on the Riva promenaded and nearby streets, from early December through to early January. There are events, concerts, traditional crafts, food & drinks houses and festive atmosphere. Advent is very popular among locals, but tourist seem to enjoy it too. If you have time to visit Zagreb, this is the best time! Zagreb “Christmas market” was voted (two times in a row) “European Best Christmas Market”. You can find out more in our Zagreb blog: here!

So, when are you planing your visit?
